Lawatan Amal PEKA in collaboration with Paediatric Department, Orthopedic Department , Unit Pemulihan HUSM and Unit Kebajikan Pesakit HUSM was held on the 1st October 2012 to visit a patient's in Kok Lanas, Kota Bharu. The visit involved Physiotherapists Team from Unit Pemulihan HUSM, Orthopedic Specialist HUSM (AP Dr. Wan Faisham Wan Ismail), Paediatric Neuro Specialist HUSM (Dr. Salmi Abd. Razak), Unit Kebajikan Pesakit HUSM (Mr. Shamsul Amri Sallehuddin) dan PEKA Representative.  AP Dr. Wan FAisham and Dr. Salmi have reviewed the unfortunate young man who suffers from paralysis cervical downward due to MVA few years back. He suffers from severe spasticity and contractures of all limbs/joints with his wish conveyed to us is to be able to move around / “jalan jalan ".  After discussions, the treatment plan is to do multiple ortho operations in stages with aim of facilitating his ability to sit/caretaker access to perineal area and possibly improve function of one or both of his hand. His state or conditions is not suitable for physio as the contractures of all limbs are too advanced. En. Amri (Unit Kebajikan HUSM) will help to find financial support for the medical gadget needed for the operation. The physiotherapist will visit him occasionally to maintain his current state of contracture. The parents and Nuruddin have agreed to be admitted sometime in November for 3-6 months period. Dr. Salmi has prescribed some antispasticity and other medication while waiting for the definitive Operation. The parents conveyed his special thanks to everybody and to those who donated.
